Getting Here
Villa Barberino sits in the hills of the Valdarno, the river valley between Florence and Arezzo. It's an easy trip from Florence, and very doable from Rome if you're making a holiday of it. Here's how to reach us.

Flying in
Florence (FLR) is closest — about 40 minutes from the villa. Pisa (PSA) is another good option, roughly an hour and fifty, and often a little cheaper. If you're coming long-haul, Rome (FCO) tends to have the best international fares; it's about two and a half hours away by car or train.
By train
The train is the easy way in. From Florence, a regional train reaches San Giovanni Valdarno — the closest station to the villa — in about 40 minutes, and they run all day. From there it's a 15-minute taxi or transfer to Villa Barberino. Coming from Rome, take a Frecciarossa high-speed train up to Florence (about 1h20), then change to the regional line back down to San Giovanni Valdarno.
By car
Driving is lovely — about 40 minutes from Florence, two and a half hours from Rome, all of it through classic Tuscan countryside. A car is also the best way to explore the region while you're here. A few Italy notes: bring an International Driving Permit, book an automatic early if you don't drive stick, and watch for the ZTL limited-traffic zones in town centers. There's parking at the villa.
The last stretch
However you arrive, the final leg is the same short hop into the hills — about 15 minutes up from San Giovanni Valdarno. And since we've reserved rooms on the property, once you're here you can park the car (and the suitcase) and stay put for the weekend.
The Venue
Villa Barberino sits in the hills of Meleto, Cavriglia, in the province of Arezzo. All of our wedding festivities will take place on the grounds of the estate.
More about the villa coming soon.
FAQs
- What’s the dress code?
- Friday’s welcome dinner: Garden Party Chic. Saturday’s ceremony & reception: Summer Formal.
- Is this a child-free wedding?
- We love your kids! While we encourage you to give yourselves a vacation sans children, we’re more than happy to accommodate children of all ages.
- What’s the best way to get from the airport to Villa Barberino?
- Two easy ways: train or car. By train, ride to San Giovanni Valdarno — the nearest station — then grab a 15-minute taxi to the villa (about 40 minutes total from Florence). By car, it's around 40 minutes from Florence or two and a half hours from Rome, and the drive is gorgeous. We'd just skip cobbling together buses — it turns a short trip into a long one.
- What should we do while we’re in Tuscany/Italy in general?
- We’re putting together a list of things to do for those who want to make a trip out of this! Check back later for updates.
- What’s the weather like in Tuscany in late June?
- Warm, sunny, and beautiful — peak Tuscan summer. Expect daytime temperatures around 80ºF with cooler evenings in the hills. Rain is rare but possible. All events will be outdoors, so pack a light sweater or jacket for the evenings.
